European research and innovation initiatives, strategic investments in digital infrastructure and agro-logistics, and applied projects for water and agricultural resilience.
Innovative Solutions for Flood Protection, Water Retention and Agricultural Resilience
Agricol Smart Cluster Mireșu Mare is promoting the development of the ALVEOLA-Tisa concept, a research and innovation initiative aimed at making controlled use of part of the floodwater for agriculture, while contributing to flood risk reduction and the protection of critical infrastructure.
The concept proposes an integrated flood protection and temporary water retention system based on removable modular flood barriers and retention basins, referred to as alveoles, located in low-lying floodplain areas, with a view to preparing a proposal under Horizon Europe – Cluster 6.
AI-based Decision Support for Risk-Aware Agrobiodiversity and Diversified Farming Systems
AgroEcoWatch-AI develops and validates an uncertainty-aware AI decision-support system that quantifies the benefits, transition costs and risks of diversified production systems at parcel and farm level, integrating commercial on-farm evidence, Copernicus satellite observations, IoT sensing and calibrated bio-economic modelling.
Calibrated prediction intervals, rotation scenario simulation and early crop-stress warning for resilient farming systems.
Four structural projects set out the cluster's first investments in skills, data, infrastructure and the circular bioeconomy.
